Description
(ENTERTAINMENT--MUSIC.) Group of 3 catalog circulars for Victor Race Records. 3 illustrated circulars, each 4 pages, 7¼ x 5 inches, on one folding sheet; minimal wear.
Camden, NJ: Victor Talking Machine Company, 1926-1927

Each circular is prefaced by a page of introductory text. The first promises that "you are assured of complete and delightful entertainment, made by and for colored people. We ask you to hear the following remarkable records by artists of the colored race." Each circular lists more than 20 singles by Victor recording artists, including Jelly Roll Morton ("Hot Dance Music that is Really Hot"); spirituals and sermons with musical accompaniment; gospel by the Pace Jubilee Singers; popular songs by Mamie Smith; and blues by Monette Moore. Included are circulars dated December 1926 ("Victor Race Records") and two different circulars dated January 1927 ("New Victor Race Records") numbered "Race III" and "Race IV." None others traced at auction or in OCLC.
